With the aim to increase the company’s savings, SMC engaged into a software licensing and services contract with Transprocure Corp. last August 2003. This smart move paved way for the centralization of the company’s annual spending. |

TransProcure designed Project STEP-UP (SMC Technology Enabled Procurement – Unlimited Potential), a multi-million project which involves the integration of Ariba, an eProcurement software, in the 11 business units of SMC. |

SMC’s savings gained through procurement strategies were utilized for increasing sales through marketing initiatives or schemes. |
