Manila, Philippines (Friday, 25 July 2003) - TransProcure Corporation, Asia‘s leading procurement services company, announced that it made another successful step by upgrading International Container Terminal Services, Inc.‘s (ICTSI) Ariba™ Enterprise Spend Management™ suite of solutions by deploying Ariba™ Contracts™ and upgrading Ariba™ Sourcing™ for their procurement operations.

ICTSI embarked in 2000 with its own eProcurement private exchange using Ariba™ Buyer™. ICTSI afterwards tapped the technological procurement expertise of TransProcure in August 2002 to ensure the successful implementation of Ariba® Contracts™ and Ariba® Enterprise Sourcing™ for RFx and contract management, as well as to cover a broader range of spend categories that is fully integrated. TransProcure‘s CEO & President Charlie Villasenor said that TransProcure effectively integrated the new Ariba® programs with ICTSI‘s existing set-up. With Ariba® Enterprise Sourcing™ live within a month, preliminary sourcing events for tire recapping services and computer servers immediately generated hard savings of 23% for ICTSI.

ICTSI Purchasing Manager Antonio G. Coronel could hardly contain his satisfaction: “Early sourcing events resulted in savings of up to 24 percent. However, we wanted to reap continuous savings, so we incorporated the sourcing solution into our daily purchasing practices. As a result we are seeing average savings between 14-22 percent from each sourcing event and have achieved our payback over a year ahead of schedule,” he said.

As of mid-July 2003, ICTSI‘s private eProcurement exchange has hosted over 40 bidding events via RFQs (request for quotations), reverse and forward auctions, and has enabled and monitored seven blanket purchase orders and contracts. ICTSI also reports a total savings of 26.88% on sourcing events that took place in the first quarter of 2003.

Because of these great renumerations, ICTSI again sought the services of TransProcure to upgrade its Ariba® Enterprise Sourcing™ 3.2 on 29 June 2003 to the latest version: Ariba® Enterprise Sourcing™ 4.0. Live events (the actual application) began in early July. Version 4.0 offers a great deal of organized functionalities, as well as a friendlier user interface compared to that of the older version.

The sourcing solution is used by ICTSI buyers to locate suppliers, generate requests for quotations, and negotiate contract terms. Ariba™ Contracts™, on the other hand, provides a direct link between the sourcing and procurement functions by automatically creating a contract from a completed sourcing event, managing contract compliance and renewal, and enabling ICTSI‘s daily Ariba™ Buyer™ users to purchase from the negotiated contracts, therefore realizing actual savings. TransProcure also provides sourcing support and maintenance services for ICTSI.

ICTSI first began with Ariba® Buyer™ for its procurement needs. It immediately discovered that the ease of use and a close-loop system integrated with their back-office system (ERP) for both buyers and suppliers was a critical success factor for effective spend management, hence the decision to expand the use of Ariba ESM as deployed by TransProcure.
