TransProcure Completes Augmentation Services for Universal Robina Corp

Manila, Philippines, May 13, 2011 -- - - A system of coding and standardization for commodities and services based on the standard classification of the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC), has been built into the procurement process of Universal Robina Corporation (URC). UNSPSC is an open, global standard that provides a logical framework for classification, based on a four-tiered hierarchy of product groupings defined as segment, family, class, and commodity. The coding and standardization project was implemented by TransProcure following its conduct of a Materials and Services Coding and Standardization training session for URC's supply chain and procurement executives, staff and other personnel involved in purchasing of products and services. The session provided participants with in-depth knowledge of the three steps involved in the coding and standardization process, namely rationalization, normalization, and categorization. With coding and standardization now in place, the company's computer systems will now be able to automatically list similar products under a single category, buyers will find all suppliers of a given category, procurement managers can better analyze expenditures and perform strategic sourcing, spend visibility will increase due to consistent coding throughout the enterprise, the entire processing flow will be integrated and streamlined, control and compliance to spending limits and authorized commodities by individuals and departments will be stronger. Collectively, these benefits will help expedite a purchase and manage enterprise spend. The coding and standardization initiative capped TransProcure's augmentation services for URC. Later, the company implemented the same project for Robinsons Retail Group.
